"We attribute our continued growth and success to the hard work of our talented consultants," said  CEO and Managing Partner Jim Lewis. "We are proud to be recognized again as one of the fastest-growing companies in America, but our greatest reward is having the opportunity to help our clients across the country improve the quality of patient care they deliver."

Each year, Inc. magazine ranks U.S.-based, privately held companies according to percentage growth. The fastest-growing list is an exclusive ranking of entrepreneurs nationwide – a group Inc. magazine refers to as the most important segment of the U.S. economy.

Despite the fact that most of this year's measuring period of 2006-2009 took place during the latest recession, aggregate revenue among the companies on the list actually increased to $321.6 billion, up more than 50 percent from last year. The effects of the recession are seen, however, in the median three-year growth rate, which dropped to 96 percent from last year's 126 percent. This year's Inc. 5000 employ a record 1.4 million people.

Cumberland qualified for the list by achieving 34 percent growth during the 2006 to 2009 reporting period, with revenues of $8.9 million last year. Since its founding in early 2004, Cumberland has experienced a compounded annual growth rate of 32 percent per year.  Since their inclusion on the Inc. 5000 list in 2009, the firm has grown from 53 to 91 consultants.

Cumberland Consulting Group is a national technology implementation and project management firm serving ambulatory, acute, and post-acute health care providers. Through the implementation of new technologies, Cumberland helps their clients advance the quality of patient care they deliver and improve their business performance. Methodology

The 2010 Inc. 500|5000 is ranked according to percentage revenue growth when comparing 2006 to 2009. To qualify, companies must have been founded and generating revenue by June 30, 2006. Additionally, they had to be based in the United States, privately held, for profit, and independent—not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies—as of December 31, 2009. (Since then, a number of companies on the list have gone public or been acquired.) The minimum revenue required for 2006 is $80,000; the minimum for 2009 is $2 million.
