When she was 14, Para-Plus' founder did not face ordinary problems of teenage angst. Having just arrived in the United States from Puerto Rico, she faced a new school and community without any English language skills. She quickly learned the language and later found herself as a paralegal translating between English and Spanish clients. Choosing to open a business for interpreting and translation, a new set of frustrations immerged…being a minority woman in business. She created a multi-service translation and interpretation agency, with service capabilities in over 100 languages after years of working in the legal field with numerous clients who did not speak English.
