Brinks Innovation Competition Announces 2011 Finalists; Catacel Corporation Ranks in Top Five with Demonstrated Clean Technology Solutions

Catacel listed on Inc. 5000 for second consecutive year

GARRETTSVILLE, Ohio, Sept. 7, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Intellectual property law firm Brinks Hofer Gilson & Lione has recognized Northeast Ohio-based Catacel Corporation as one of five finalists in its 3rd Annual Brinks Innovation Competition. Finalists include the top Midwest entrepreneurs in green and clean technology that have demonstrated solutions to global challenges such as renewable and alternative energy, environmental technologies, and infrastructure and community improvements.

Catacel custom engineers and manufactures heat-exchanging reaction materials that enable breakthroughs in production economics and energy efficiency. These materials intensify fundamental processes within the fuel cell, hydrogen generation and gas separation systems, resulting in greater yields, reduced fuel consumption and lower cost.

The Brinks Innovation Competition is held annually in conjunction with the Midwest Clean Tech Conference hosted on Sept. 14, 2011, in Chicago. Finalists were chosen by a panel of nine judges, including green-tech intellectual property attorneys from Brinks, clean tech business executives, venture capitalists and experts representing regional universities. The winning entries include companies whose products, services and processes improve the productive use of natural resources through clean technology, with a sound business plan and a complete initial round of funding.

Catacel, the only finalist representing Ohio, will present its clean tech innovations to an international audience of investors, researchers, entrepreneurs and venture capitalists at Midwest Clean Tech 2011, where the first place winner will be announced.
