Data Center Provider Evocative Named One of America's Fastest-Growing Private Companies for Second Year Running

Inc. Magazine publishes its Inc. 5000 List to honor America's fastest-growing small businesses. San Francisco Bay Area Data Center operator Evocative, Inc. earns second consecutive placement for high revenue growth.

EMERYVILLE, Calif.

Aug. 12 /PRNewswire/ -- For the second year in a row, Evocative, Inc., a San Francisco Bay Area-based colocation and managed services provider, has been named one of America's fastest growing private companies in 2009 by Inc. Magazine.

Evocative, Inc. ranks as number 2,306 on the Inc. 5,000 List, which measures companies by revenue growth from 2005 to 2008. The list is the most comprehensive look at the most important segment of the economy - America's independent-minded entrepreneurs. Taken as a whole, these companies represent the backbone of the U.S. economy.

Evocative's growth rate also ranked it 82nd on Inc.'s list of the Top 100 Fastest Growing Companies by Region for the San Francisco Bay Area across all industries.

"The data center colocation and managed services market continues to perform strongly, even in the down economy," said Patrick Rigney, Evocative's CEO and founder. "What has been affected is construction of new data centers: big data center operators rely on big funding sources, and those have largely dried up. So now, uptake of services is at a much higher rate than construction of inventory, and laws of supply and demand are playing out. Our industry is seeing higher sales rates and higher prices in all the major markets. We're on our way back to Year 2000/DotCom-era pricing, and people see it coming, so they're getting their space and locking in prices for as long as they can. We're certain this will continue well into 2010, and perhaps much longer."

Evocative's customers are businesses of all types and sizes that are trying to better manage the cost of their IT infrastructure by housing their most critical servers in Evocative's purpose-built data centers rather than their own "computer rooms." Evocative's data centers offer "always on" redundant power, cooling, and internet access, backed by a 100% uptime guarantee. Evocative derives economies of scale so its clients get better service at lower costs than if they tried to duplicate those levels of redundancy themselves.

"Being an Inc. 5000 Honoree two years in a row is a great honor for our small, hard working team," says Rigney. "As a small business, we have lots of additional hurdles to jump every day, not the least of which is people's perception that bigger operators will take better care of them. Our customers debunk that notion. We have a better uptime record than bigger companies that claim to be the finest at what we all do. That's hard work and dedication to a high standard, and this honor is another acknowledgment of that, and we're very proud of it."
